Our DDOS protected network were down for about 4 minutes due to a Cisco router crashed while processing a complex ACL in attempts to filter a ddos attack. In addition to this outage, there was some packet loss for all traffic over AboveNet this morning which was a result of a large attack that congested the uplinks for AboveNet only (all other upstreams were working properly).
We apologize for these minor interuptions but these types of things come with the territory when you're filtering tens of gigabits worth of attacks at any given time. To give you an idea of the attacks we receive on a daily basis, yesterday's biggest attack was over 15Gbps and 17 million packets per second (the attack only lasted 13 minutes so no nullroute was needed, the VPS client remained online for the whole attack without interuption of service).
