Here is a copy of the e-mail we sent to our clients:
All VPSs on our current Atlanta, GA. server will be migrated to a new VPS node hosted in Lenoir, North Carolina with Dacentec on May 8th (Friday). Unfortunately since we are dealing with multiple networks and coordinating IP announcements and routing with 2 different data centers, we do not have specific times for the migration or how long the outage will be.
Since your IPs are staying the same, there is no work required on your end during this migration. A reboot of your VPS will be required during the migration so please be sure to check your VPS once the migration is complete to ensure it is working properly.
We had been looking for a suitable data center within Atlanta, but after much discussion we have decided it is more beneficial for us and out clients to pick a location more centrally located on the east coast since Atlanta is relatively close (network-wise) to our Tampa, FL. location. After having utilized Dacentec's services for almost 2 years for our own usage, we are very happy with the stability and the connectivity they offer and their bandwidth pricing and fast support align better with our goals and our client's demands. Unlike the other migrations we've been performing this year, the new node will not be the upgraded SSD powered hardware like we've installed in FL, CA, and NJ because we have classified this as a priority move to alleviate some recurring issues we've been experiencing. We have leased adequate space and have installed two of our own network switches to allow us easier expansions and a seamless upgrade when the time comes.
For those of you who chose our Atlanta due to latency, there is only a 9ms difference in terms of latency. If you are still unsatisfied with the change in location, please contact us and we will work with you to find a solution for you.
If you have any questions regarding this, please open a ticket with our Support department and we can discuss this with you. If you wish to move your VPS to another location and move it back after the migration, please open a ticket and we can accommodate this for you also (at this time we've disabled new orders and migrations to or from our GA node while we regularly synchronize the data between the current and the new node). During the migration process, you can follow us on Twitter for any updates we might have including any delays or issues we might be experiencing.
