On Thursday (10/6/2011), we will be upgrading our network security by installing our own hardware firewall in our cabinet at GoRACK. This upgrade is a result of the recent DoS attacks we've been experiencing. Luckily we have not had any major issues as a result of the attacks, but this step if a pre-emptive measure in order to ensure the performance and stability of our network.
Unfortunately this installation will require a momentary network outage while we plug in our firewall to intercept all network traffic. The amount of downtime expected for all of our nodes is less than 1 minute and will be a network only outage (your VPSs will remain running, but without network connectivity).
The current maintenance window for this install will be Thursday 8AM (EST) to 10AM (EST). We do not expect this to take 2 hours but we are allotting that time for the GoRACK staff since they will be performing the actual cable switch.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to open a ticket and we will assist you as best we can.
