Hello,
We have noticed a major slowness lately with our websites and nodes that host a lot of VPSs running active webservers. We found out today, while troubleshooting a completely unrelated, that the DNS servers at GoRACK were not resolving correctly and while we did use multiple DNS servers, it was taking up to 90 seconds to failover to the 2nd DNS server.
We have notified GoRACK about this problem but in the interim, we have changed our current DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 (Google) and 4.2.2.2 (Verizon) which are both very reliable, fast, and offer better redundancy. Unfortunately because we were originally pushing GoRACK's DNS servers (68.67.73.115 and 68.67.73.116) to all VPSs, we have run a script to update all OpenVZ based VPSs to the new DNS servers. For all Xen clients you will need to update your DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf to point to the Google and Verizon IPs above, or 2 other DNS servers of your choosing.
For those OpenVZ clients who already had your own DNS servers listed in the /etc/resolv.conf file, please login to your servers and update them again to replace the new ones which we added (unfortunately this was an all or nothing script so we could not exclude any VPSs with working DNS IPs).
