HOW TO: Installing Windows on a KVM VPS

Installing Windows on a KVM requires the virtio drivers to be loaded. By default, the virtio drivers are mounted as a floppy for all Windows installs so you'll perform the OS install like normal with the following minor changes:
  1. Click the "Load driver" link when it asks you which disk to install Windows to.
  2. Click the "Browse" button.
  3. Navigate to the "amd64" folder on the floppy drive (A:) and select the folder for your version of Windows then click the "OK" button.
  4. Be sure the "hide drivers..." box is checked and select the driver listed and click the "Next" button.
  5. Now your disk should appear and you can continue installing Windows like normal.
